Pillar Insulators are designed to provide insulated support in assemblies that include live conductors, maintaining the distance between two surfaces to ensure they do not touch.
Termate’s pillar insulators are made from specialised polyamide, which has been selected to meet NF F16- 101/102 requirements. This ensures that the pillar insulators offer high mechanical and insulating capabilities while simultaneously meeting stringent burning and smoke toxicity standards.
Pillar insulator material
The material for Termate’s pillar insulators is polyamide 6 (PA6), which is halogen and phosphorus free, with low smoke emissions and flame retardant. Their female inserts are made of brass, and their male inserts are made of mild steel that is zinc plated and passivated. They have an operating temperature of -20°C to +130°C, and they have an NF F classification of 16-101/102, I3, and F2.
Unlike with porcelain or DMC (dough moulded compound) insulators, this material choice allows our standoffs to be injection moulded, which facilitates increased accuracy compared to compression moulded or resin cast alternatives.
Pillar insulator range size
Our range of pillar insulators includes a variety of heights from 15mm to 60mm, with M4 and M5 insert sizes available. Their self-extinguishing, UL94-V0 rated, halogen- and phosphorus-free material makes them ideal for a variety of applications. With an insulation voltage of up to 1000 V AC / 1500 V DC and achieving a burning behaviour rating of I3 and smoke and toxicity rating F2 in line with NF F 16-101 (Fire Testing to railway components—French Standard), our pillar insulators are a safe and reliable option.
Extensively tested products
At Termate, we are always striving to create products that are safe and high-quality. The materials used in our products have been specifically tested for their reaction to fire, opacity of smoke, and toxicity of gases emitted. Our testing procedure is designed to give you the confidence that our products will meet the specified ratings when installed correctly.
Pillar insulator applications
Pillar insulators are an essential component in many industrial applications, including as separators on printed circuit boards (PCBs). By providing a barrier between two surfaces, pillar insulators help to prevent accidental contact and ensure safe operation. In addition, pillar insulators are designed to meet specific fire safety requirements in terms of flammability and release of particulates. This makes them ideal for use in a wide range of industries, including electronics, motors, transportation, mining, and oil and gas.
When selecting pillar insulators for your application, it is important to ensure that they are compliant with all relevant safety standards.
