Rail Application
Standoff Insulators

All materials used in rail vehicles must follow the EN 45545-2 standard in order to achieve the highest level of safety possible in the event of a fire.

Our range of Rail Application standoff insulators meet the requirements of EN 45545-2:2020 – EL10 (R26)

Below are access points for each of our products “footprints” alternatively head directly to our cross reference tool.

Our railway application standoff insulators are available with metric threads, and in a variety of heights and insert sizes.

  • Self-extinguishing, UL 94 V-0 rated
  • Halogen & red phosphorus free
  • Insulation voltage: 1000 V AC, 1500 V DC
  • Operating temperature range from −20 °C to +130 °C (−4 °F to +266 °F)
  • EN 45545-2:2020: EL10 (R26)
  • CTI (EN IEC 60112-2020): 600  V

Selection Data

Our standoff insulators are available with metric threads, in a variety of product footprints, heights and insert sizes. Each product range has the same distinctive grey octagonal design, making them the comprehensive choice for customers wishing to ensure uniformity within their assemblies.

Refer to the tables below or search our range by either required size, historic Termate product part numbers or competitor codes using our complete cross reference tool.

Manufacture:

Our insulators are made from glass-reinforced polyamide, chosen specifically for its mechanical capabilities and performance as an insulator.

Testing:

Our extensive testing procedure is designed to give you the confidence that, when correctly installed in your own assembly, our products will meet the specified ratings.

Each range has been subjected to cantilever, torque and tensile tests. Additionally they are compliant with the applicable clauses within many international standards Including Railway Applications to EN 45545-2:2020 – EL10 (R26)

Contact us if you require compliance with other standards.

Application:

Termate insulators are commonly used in a variety of applications including:

  • Auxillary converters
  • Auxiliary Power Supplies
  • Traction Energy Storage Systems (TESS)
  • Power converters
  • Electric motors

They are designed to safely keep two conductive parts separated for safety reasons and to prevent contact between them that could cause damage or harm.

In addition to railway applications, they are suitable for use in the manufacture of electric vehicles, battery energy storage systems, electrical panel boards and  switchboards, as well as generators and drives.

Sectors:

Our standoffs are used across a variety of sectors, including power distribution, renewable energy (from wind, solar and tidal sources), the rail sector (both track side and rolling stock), in marine uses, temporary and emergency power, and also in datacentre power distribution.
