* Fixing details: Hole diameter = Standoff thread size [M]+1 mm. e.g. M6 Thread = 7 mm hole diameter.

** Tensile and Cantilever Strength figures are based on tests carried out at normal room temperature, nominal 23 °C.

Our metric insulators can be converted into Male/Male or Female/Male versions by fitting studs from our Grub Screw Pack.

Standoff Insulators:

Manufacture:

Termate’s RAM1 standoff insulator range provides excellent electrical insulation and mechanical strength for a variety of railway applications. Compact standoff insulators can also be referred to as pillar insulators, insulating posts, bobbin insulators, or busbar isolators.

This standoff insulator range is available in heights from 20 mm to 35 mm and insert sizes of M5 and M6. Technical data is found on the table above which displays heights, thread size and depth, maximum tightening torques, tensile and cantilever strengths, and box quantities available.

  • Made from UL 94 V-0 rated, self-extinguishing material
  • Halogen & Red Phosphorus Free
  • Operating temperature range of −20 °C to +130 °C (−4 °F to +266 °F)
  • Insulation voltage of up to 1000 V AC, 1500 V DC
  • Equipment voltage of up to 1000 V AC, 1500 V DC

Our standoff insulators are made from a halogen and red phosphorus free glass-reinforced material, which was specifically chosen for its low smoke emission and flammability characteristics in addition to excellent mechanical and electrical insulation properties.

Brass inserts are used due to this alloy’s resistance to corrosion. The injection moulding process, combined with our excellent quality control and inspection procedures, results in a consistent product across every production run.

Application:

The RAM1 range of standoff insulators is an important product in the Termate catalogue. Prior to entering production, the insulators were subjected to a comprehensive suite of tests that examined their electrical and mechanical performance capabilities.

All tests were conducted within industry standards and with strict quality control measures enforced throughout. This rigorous testing procedure ensures our products are always performing optimally, providing customers with reliable and high-quality insulation solutions. We take pride in providing our customers with the highest quality of products, ensuring all safety and performance requirements are met.

RAM1 standoff insulators are manufactured from material that meets the requirements for IEC 60695-11-10 & UL 94 V-0. UL 94 being a standard for the safety of flammability of plastic materials for parts in devices and appliances released by the Underwriters Laboratories.

Our standoff insulators are suitable for railway applications up to 1000 V AC or up to 1500 V DC. These insulation supports provide a solution for electrical systems that need the assurance of safe and secure insulation.

In installations which require electrical isolation, they ensure that distance is maintained between two surfaces. This maintains the required level of mechanical strength and electrical insulation needed to safely contain live conductors, such as busbars. Usual installations are within:

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems
  • EV power trains
  • Drives, inverters and converters

These electrical insulating requirements can be found in a wide range of rolling stock & trackside applications in addition, environments where there is elevated concerns regarding smoke emission or flammability such as onboard vessels.

Termate is committed to the highest standard of customer focus and we have made every effort to maintain the accuracy and completeness of the information provided in this data. Where improvements to our products affect their installation and usage we endeavour to contact any customers who may be affected.

Warranty as stated in our Terms and Conditions of Trading is void if any modification is made to the warranted product.
